Welcome to Planetary Research Media

Our Mission: To better understand today’s environmental problems so all can have the privilege of forever enjoying the beauty of the natural world.

Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center

Our Philosophy:  The United States must rely on the future decision makers of this country to adapt new habits that are less detrimental to our fragile planet.

We don’t have a lot of time...
Conservation organizations estimate that at least fifty species will go extinct every year.  Science magazine predicted that the entire fishing industry will completely collapse by the year 2049.  It is projected by the Green Student organization that anywhere from fifteen to thirty-seven percent of all plant and animal species could be wiped out by 2050 due to global warming alone.

Aside from the ecological tragedy these numbers represent, the loss of biodiversity is dangerous.

Most of our pharmaceutical drugs come from plants, many of which are becoming increasingly rare.  If our young people do not fully understand the urgency, the tenuous foothold many animals and plants have on the earth now, we may lose those species forever.  How many cancer cures will disappear with the disappearance of a nondescript sea squirt and arthritis cures with the loss of an obscure jelly fish?

Our Goal:  To inspire others to get excited about one environmental cause, whether it be greenhouse gases or lionfish populations, and become a knowledgeable citizen.

Doing nothing about our environmental problems is the easiest choice for any of us.  But doing nothing is also a decision.  We desperately need a citizenry dedicated to preservation and finding common-sense ways to fix today’s problems.  The goal of a clean, healthy, balanced environment is attainable, where all wild animals can safely reach adulthood and where human consumption is matched by planting and regeneration.  And in the powerful words of Margaret Meade: “Never believe that a few caring individuals cannot change the world.  For indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
